About and contact

I'm a writer, commissioning editor, editorial consultant, and a mother to two young sons - but definitely not in that order.

As well as creating editorial for newsstand, I have frequently worked with major brands to develop their editorial voice and content. I’m passionate about the opportunities this area of journalism can offer, and have been a guest speaker on branded content for the journalism MA students at City University.

Writing and editing on arts, entertainment, travel and lifestyle, across digital and print, I've contributed to newspapers including The Guardian, The Independent, The Sunday Times and the Financial Times, and to magazines including High Life, Condé Nast Traveller, SPINMOJO, Elle, Women's Health, Men's Health, Eurostar Metropolitan, The Culture Trip and many others.

I am an Editor at the branded editorial content agency Uncommonly, working alongside brilliant colleagues to create editorial in the arts and culture, lifestyle and hospitality spaces, as well on as brand positioning and more. My role includes creating and overseeing content for the Goodwood Estate, THE PIG hotels, Conrad Hilton and many others.

BACKGROUND

I have been Editor-in-Chief and Editor for MO Magazine for Mandarin Oriental Group and Deputy Editor of High Life magazine for British Airways, Editor of The London Magazine and Editor of Hotline magazine for Virgin.

As an editor, I have commissioned and edited original content from journalists including Emily Maitlis, Mark Easton, Simon Calder and John Simpson, and from public figures including Tracey Emin and Marie Kondo.

As a writer, my interviewees have often been actors (Kim Cattrall, Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler, Eddie Redmayne, Damian Lewis) and musicians (Ronnie Wood, Debbie Harry, Dolly Parton, Marianne FaithfullSuzanne Vega, Duran Duran) but also all kinds of people in the arts, politics (Roy Hattersley, Peter Tatchell), sports (Andy Murray, Team GB athletes) and public life.

I have an MA (Hons) and BA (Hons) in Social and Political Science from Newnham College, University of Cambridge, winning the Ruth Cohen Award for an Outstanding Dissertation and the Laurie Hart Prize for Consistent Excellence in Writing.

I have been creating editorial since I was a teenager in the late 90s, when I self-published (then called  'photocopying') a riot girl zine. Its mix of big interviews and lifestyle content caught the attention of newspapers including The Guardian, giving me the encouragement I needed to continue doing what I love.
